Pacific downs North Carolina A&T in Gotham Classic

STOCKTON, Calif. – Anthony Townes recorded a career-high 18 points to go with eight rebounds a Pacific held off North Carolina A&T, 66-57, in the Gotham Classic.
Jacob Lumpkin posted 11 points and 11 rebounds – his first career double-double – for Pacific (4-6), which also received 15 points from T.J. Wallace, who became the 27th Tiger to record 1,000 career points.
After Jack Williams scored on a layup to give Pacific a 52-45 lead with 4:23 to go, the Tigers did not attempt a field goal the rest of the way as their final 14 points came from the foul line, going 14-of-15 down the stretch.
NC A&T (1-9) was paced by the 15-point effort of Sam Hunt. Raymon Pratt netted 14 points and Eliel Gonzalez added 11 points.
The Gotham Classic resumes on Saturday when UMass hosts Kennesaw State. NC A&T is next in action on Sunday at home to Rider while Pacific hosts Kennesaw State on Tuesday.
